Seminar, in Germany, introduces new prostatitis treament
Urologists from Europe gathered together in Dortmund, Germany to participate in a seminar operating the Tempro thermotherapy system for chonic prostatitis treatment. The seminar included frontal presentations and discussions held by various urologists with thermal therapy experience.
The participating physicians were then invited to partake in several clinical treatment sessions emphasizing the ease and simplicity of the Tempro device 's application. The session provided the participants a relevant platform for sharing their own knowledge from various European environments and experience with CPPS and thermal application. The seminar was summarized successfully and more such events are in the planning stage in various European and worldwide locations.

DirexGroup made a strong showing at the AFU which took place in Palais des Congres in Paris from November 18 to 21. Two papers presented at WCE in Munich, Germany
The first UK paper on the use of Double Shock Wave Lithotripsy was presented at the World Congress of Endourology from October 6-10 in Germany. Dual Electro Hydraulic Lithotripsy safety and efficacy was further reinforced by updated clinical data submitted by Darrent Valley Hospital, Dartford UK. The Dartford NHS hospital replaced its mobile service for a permanent lithotripter, in accordance with their commitment “to providing high quality medical and nursing care, making every effort to ensure that our patients receive the very best treatment, attention and care.”
Initial treatments were with an Electro hydraulic version of Dual Shockwave Lithotripsy and in the last six months treatment was administered by Magna, the newest Electromagnetic Dual Shockwave Lithotripter by DirexGroup.

Direx-Initia in the UK
Direxgroup will launch its newest developments, the electromagnetic Duet Magna lithotripter and the Tempro RF thermal therapy system , at the BAUS congress to be held at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC), Glasgow, from June 23-25, 2009.
Duet Magna is a unique lithotripter combining two shockwave sources and electromagnetic technology. The Magna DSWL (Double Shock Wave Lithotripsy), produces a unique "Butterfly" Focal Volume proven to reduce significantly kidney damage compared to all single source lithotripters which produce "Cigar Shaped" Focal Volume. In Cigar shaped Focal Volumes, only the central part contributes to stone fragmentation whereas the distal and proximal areas contribute only to kidney damage. The Butterfly focal area is a closer approximation to a spherical focal area which is the Ideal Focal Volume to treat stones. In addition, DSWL divides the total energy reaching the stone into two different volumes, so that half of the energy reaches the stone from an Upper Volume while the second half comes from a Lower Volume.
Direx introduces Chronic Abacterial Prostatitis / CPPS treatment with Tempro Thermotherapy System. Tempro, a thermal therapy device that treats symptomatic BPH and Prostatitis, provides prostate thermal heating by delivering Radio Frequency power to the prostate tissue, via an applicator located in the Prostatic urethra. A computer controlled Bipolar RF generator delivers its power to a special multi-electrode applicator. Safety is assured by measuring continuously the maximum temperature using 3 sensors.

DirexGroup Exhibited at the WCE in Shanghai
DirexGroup exhibited at the World Congress of Endourology 2008 in Shanghai. During this venue, Direx approached the Chinese market with two innovative systems: The Duet lithotripter and the Tempro for BPH treatment.
The Duet lithotripter uses an innovative and unique Dual Shock Wave technology. Recent research at Indiana University shows that this technology not only allows treatment at 240 shocks/min, thus reducing treatment time by half, but also reduces kidney damage at least 5 times compared to similar treatment with a single reflector.
Tempro allows for an innovative BPH treatment using a Bipolar Radio Frequency Multielectrode on a 16 Foley catheter. The Bipolar technology allows localized treatment around the urethra with maximum safety to rectum and external sphincter.

Following CE approval and successful use of the Tempro system in Europe, Direx Korea recently received approval for the device by Korean Food and Drug Administration.
Tempro, an innovative system treating BPH, uses a Bipolar Radio Frequency technology. A Multielectrode Applicator on a 16 Foley catheter is used during treatment. The Bipolar technology allows localized treatment around the urethra with maximum safety to rectum and external sphincter.
